Clandestinos on Sutton

This strikingly beautiful figure forms the left portion of a building length mural tucked away on Sutton Avenue. It's the work of Clandestinos, an artistic duo consisting of Bruno Smoky and Shalak Attack.

Looking back through past posts I was surprised to discover that this is only the second time this blog has featured a mural by Canadian-Chilean artist Shalak Attack. With her vibrant colours and themes of spirit animals and strong and interesting female faces, she's easily one of my favourite artists working in Toronto. This mural was part of a collaborative effort by 4 artists in the lane way next to 530 Richmond Street West.

Earth Witch

This post is in honour of Earth Day. When I saw this mural, my first thought wasn't witch, it was Mother Nature. I'm not sure where my head was that day, but the feeling still sticks. Perhaps it's the flowing green hair. Or that look, as she plots what to send us next.

This stretch of the railpath features work by a number of Toronto street artists. This piece is by Shalak, a female artist who uses a lot of colour and likes to portray animals and strong women in her work.
